Shipboard Installation Technician - Fiber Cable Termination Subject Matter Expert (SME). Employee will perform shipboard installation efforts of Shipboard Alterations (SA) and Ordnance Alterations (OA) with a primary focus on working with Fiber Optic cables. The employee will be tasked with leading installation teams of approximately (5) technicians (both Lockheed Martin and subcontract personnel) as well as performing as a team member performing this work. Tasking will also include the installation of shipboard cabinet modifications (i.e. OA). The ability to spend the majority of time in a travel status (both domestic and international); work extended hours (overtime) as-required to meet schedule commitments; and possess a SECRET security clearance are required.

Basic Qualifications Experience with shipboard installations including: - Existing cable rip-out and roll-back [including megger testing & cable/connector inspection]; - Fiber cable termination; - Shipboard cabinet modifications; - Finalizing installations for space turnover to ship’s force (i.e. cable tagging/banding, final quality assurance inspections and remediation). Ability to read and understand shipboard mechanical and electrical drawings. Ability to work in a team environment with overall LM Alteration Installation Team (AIT) Leads and Technician Leads directing top level weekly/near term objectives. Ability to complete certification training and renewals, as required. Knowledgeable in Mechanical and Electrical installation/modification standards and methodology including NAVSEA STD Items.

Desired skills Fiber Optic cable certifications in accordance with MIL-STD-2042 (inspection), MIL-STD-1678-1, MIL-STD-2042, NAVSEA SI , 009-04, and 009-123 (connector fabrication). Copper cable termination certifications in accordance with DOD-STD-2003/5. Cableway inspections in accordance with DOD-STD-2003. OSHA Maritime 10 hr Training Course #7615. Experience with requirements of NAVSEA TS 9090-301 REV G; Shipyard Competent Person (29 CFR 1915, NFPA 306); ESH 40 CFR Hazardous Waste Management; ESH 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Transportation.
